Big Blue has been the most active Platform vendor acquiring Decision Management technologies — everybody bought Business Intelligence and BPM but IBM did go the extra mile to acquire Business Rules Management System and Optimization vendor ILOG and Predictive Analytics SPSS.
IBM has also bought tons of other solutions — recessions are great for the Almighty with cash — in related spaces. Let me highlight the acquisitions of the week:
- Just a few days ago, Datacap augmented its imagery arsenal — I wonder if they will integrate those with Lombardi or Filenet or both, I would love to hear what EMC has to say about it
- Today it announced its acquisition of Unica for a neat $480M price tag
IBM seems to continue building its giant Marketing puzzle with Unica’s Marketing platform and Coremetrix web analytics as the two latest additions this year.
