When IBM started its centers for Business Analytics and Optimization Services, it looked like it was investing a lot. Since then IBM has been on a shopping spree. This is not very surprising from the company that acquired around 100 companies in a decade — see IBM’s acquisitions since 1999 (http://bit.ly/9hcYA3)!
Yesterday, it agreed to purchase OpenPages, yet another Business Analytics company that allows businesses to develop a compliance and risk management strategy across a variety of domains including operational risk, financial controls management, IT risk, compliance and internal audits. The result is an aggregated picture of all exposures that spans the entire enterprise, helping CFOs and CIOs understand how these risks can impact the organization’s future performance.
