Decision Management with Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets

Spreadsheet

Watch the recording

Spreadsheets have been used for many years to store business knowledge and capture the business rules as requirements for an implementation project. Many businesses continue to maintain their decision logic in this well-known format. Once captured they are often maintained and referenced by business and technical teams and in some organizations they are consumed by an automated system. Although it is common to use spreadsheets as part of a decision management system, there are limitations as to how well they can be implemented.

In this webinar, we will address two of the more significant limitations – working with large spreadsheets and configuring how the decision management platform can use what’s in them. Specifically, we will cover the integration of spreadsheets with Decision Management Systems. In some cases, they translate to business rules. In others, spreadsheets remain the format of choice for maintenance, while systems must learn how to interpret them at runtime. We will cover both cases showing how SMARTS Decision Manager supports automatic import of spreadsheets using the DMN format and how using a SMARTS feature called Lookup Models turns spreadsheets into executable artifacts.

This webinar will be hosted by Carole-Ann Berlioz
